Longtime ESO chief leaves legacy of service
Marlyou Benner, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District Employee Support Office chief, retires Sept. 30 at the Amelia Earhart Center in Wiesbaden, Germany after seven years with the district and 32 years of government service. Benner and her staff support the district with human resources-related staffing, recruitment, hiring and manpower management. ESO processes extensions and manages the “five-year rule” program. The team also provides assistance, answers and information to employees about living and working in Europe. During her career, Benner also served in the Navy Reserve and rose from petty officer third class to lieutenant. She looks forward to spending her retirement in the German state of Bavaria — hiking, gardening and renovating a home with her husband.
