US, Ghana combat malnutrition with new center
Chieftains, community member and health professionals, together with U.S. Embassy Ghana representatives cut the ribbon on a new Nutrition Rehabilitation Center in Krachi-Nkwanta, adjacent to the Nkwanta South District Hospital. The $490,000 project was funded by U.S Africa Command and managed by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District using local materials and building practices. The new center includes eight patient rooms, toilet and bathing facilities, a kitchen, four staff rooms, four storage rooms, a weighing and treatment area, reception area, and a large community room. Next to the center is a new 100-cubic-meter rainwater-harvesting cistern for rain collection and reuse.
